Experience

I tutored 4th and 5th grade students in math for two years. I created a Chess Club, and taught chess to 25 4th and 5th graders for 2 years. We learned about famous chess players, famous chess moves, and the children competed in mini chess tournaments. Our four teens were homeschooled. And, I helped prepare them for their college entrance exams. All entered the college of their choice, and all graduated within four years. Their formal education was a successful and positive experience. For this reason, I am specifically interested in helping HS students prepare for college entrance exams by helping them improve their ACT or SAT scores.

Hobbies

In the past 3 years I have developed a keen interest in hydroponics. And, am looking forward to increasing my knowledge/understanding of aquaponics and aeroponics, as well. I enjoy learning! And, this particular hobby brings together Chemistry (keeping pHs balanced can be tricky), Physics (making sure that the appropriate light spectrum is available for both red light and blue light plants), and Biology (monitoring for mold/disease and ensuring that the proper ecosystem is in place prior to the introduction of fish). It is a fascinating hobby! Also, I have worked for an architect, but most of my architectural experience and interest has been with regards to my own homes. I have designed and general contracted 4 homes. And, extensively remodeled 2 other homes. I received a summa cum laude in design, and art/design continues to be a passion.
